McDumbass

The day that the leadership of the military comes to me and says, 'Senator, we ought to change the policy,' then I think we ought to consider seriously changing it."
John McCain - Iowa State University, October 2006

At this moment of immense hardship for our armed services, we should not be seeking to overturn the 'don't ask, don't tell' policy."
John McCain, February 2, 2010

So much for integrity.
So much for principles.
So much for consistency.

McCain is just like all the other politicians allegedly working for us - Saying what's right for the situation and/or the audience at hand.

I spent 21yrs in the military and can tell you that no one really gives a shit about the sexual orientation or proclivities of the people they work with. That they can do their jobs, carry their weight, and come through when they're needed most - is what matters most.

So much for our favorite "maverick." Not that he ever was one.

I assume the generals are ready to repeal DADT because the military needs more manpower than they have. They've already raised the enlistment age, lowered their education standards, said it's OK to have a criminal record and/or mental health problems. I think repealing DADT is a pragmatic move.

But McCain never misses a chance to pander to the basest of the Republican "base."
