I know this is a little old, but I have to post it here. Vice President Cheney has, as you know by now, claimed that his office is not subject to classified information oversight mandated Executive Order. His defense? Because he serves as the President of the Senate, he is not a part of the Executive Branch of our government.

What’s even more asinine is that the White House supports this! White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said, “This is a little bit of a non-issue because the President gets to decide whether or not he [Cheney] should be treated separately, and he’s decided that he should.”

I suppose that’s cool. Bush is The Decider after all.

Seriously….How exactly does this moron figure that the Vice President is not an Executive Branch position? How in the fuck does his staff get away with defending his position with "We are confident that we are conducting the office properly under the law”? I wonder if that defense of non-compliance with the law would work for the common man. I hardly think so.

Cheney’s foil? Rahm Emanual (D-Ill). I like this guy:
"He's acting as if he's unaccountable -- a whole fourth branch of government unto himself. So my view is if you're not in the executive branch we shouldn't fund you as the executive branch." Emanuel was supposed to introduce the bill this week.

Here’s what I sent to all of them:
I am shocked by the arrogance of the Office of the Vice President in regard to its recent refusal to turn over documents to the National Archives, as mandated by Executive Order. I am likewise astounded by the response from the Office of the President.

I trust that you and other representatives of the people will stand up and act with honor and integrity in demanding immediate cooperation of the Vice President and his staff.
