The Japanese government recently announced it would not kill 50 humpback whales. Ordinarily, that news wouldn’t qualify for a D.i.G. post but, because the Japanese will be slaughtering 935 minke whales, and 50 fin whales anyway, it makes it.All in the name of research.
I haven’t read what exactly that research is, or why Japan would need the corpses of 935 whales to perform it, but I’m sure when they’re done there will be a cure for cancer, AIDS and the common cold.
