Republican US Senator from Idaho Michael Crapo was
arrested in Virginia on 12/23 for driving under the influence after running a
red light. Crapo is also a Mormon. Nice.
Not surprisingly, this epitome of ethics:
- Voted YES on allowing some lobbyist gifts to
Congress. (Mar 2006)
- Voted NO on establishing the Senate Office of
Public Integrity. (Mar 2006)
- Voted NO on banning "soft money"
contributions and restricting issue ads. (Mar 2002)
For more on this craptastic piece of self-righteous
hypocrisy, check his voting record.

And in yesterday's news, Crappo got a $250 fine for his DUI. I would have sworn the DUI penalties were stricter than that, but I guess not if you're a VIP.
Damned arugula-eating elitists get all the preferential treatment. ;-)
I live in a part of Oregon that might as well be part of Idaho when it comes to politics. People in conservative areas like this will go on and on about moral values, etc. but when it comes to what their elected representative does in his or her personal life they don't really care as long as his ideology is strictly anti-left.
We have a state representative who claimed it was OK he was doing 60 in a neighborhood because he was a state representative. There was also some strong speculation that he may have used been whuppin' on his kids. No matter, he still won his races by 2-1 margins.
