Dueling Dumbasses

They’re not government, but…John Fund and Boris Epshteyn are two of the biggest dumbasses in American politics today.  It doesn’t matter what they say or where they say it, they’re obnoxious and acutely incapable of engaging in a discussion without yelling over the person with whom they’re having the discussion.

These two fucks were on Bill Maher’s Real Time last night discussing what Romney said during the last Presidential debate:  “It took the president 14 days before he called the attack in Benghazi an act of terror."

During the subsequent exchange with Maher, Epshteyn and Fund stuck to the misinformed, Right Wing mantra that he did not, arguing the order of the words as opposed to the sum of the words in context.

What the President said the day after the attacks on the Libyan Embassy was this:  No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for.”  He said nearly the same thing the next day.

For the Language-Challenged:
I’ll give you one thing:  President Obama did not specifically say “Those evil-doers committed acts of terror against our guys,” or “For those of you who don’t know, those evil Muslims attacking our embassy was an act of terror.”  But, did he really have to?

In context, the President did call the attack an act of terror.  He was at the White House, giving a press conference specific to the attack.  Let me clarify – He was there only to talk about the attack; not the budget, not the debates, nothing else.  Since he was there to talk only about the attack, the phrase “no acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation” can only have been about the attack.  By default, he is defining what he’s there to talk about (the attack) an act of terror.”  What the fuck else could he have been referring to (i.e. defining) as an act of terror?

So please…STFU.

Yo, Fatso

On today’s Meet the Press Chris Christie said Mitt Romney’s all about shared sacrifice.  I say Chris Christie is full of shit.  If Mitt was truly about shared sacrifice, he’d be talking about fixing the tax code so the rich pay the same percentage as I do (in the mid 30%s), and he’d know that a humane society takes care of its poor not by taxing them, but by helping them help themselves.

Fuckin’ idiot.

Romney, You Fucking Dumbass

“It’s disgraceful that the Obama Administration’s first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.”
Really?  I think we all know Mr. Romney’s grasp on reality and time is fucked up beyond repair.  The “apology” in question was put out before the attacks.  And the administration did condemn the attacks.

“The statement that came from the administration was -- was a statement which is akin to apology and I think was a -- a severe miscalculation.”
Mr. Idiot – It was not an apology.  It was a preemptive effort by a US Embassy staff to stave off the backlash that was expected as a result of some moron religious nut in the U.S. releasing a video of some sort that offends Islam.  To me, that sounds like good judgment.  I expect if Romney was there, he’d likely be shitting himself in fear before he could even think about doing something to prevent attacks against the Embassy.

“We express immediately when we feel that the president and his administration have done something which is inconsistent with the principles of America.”
Really?  Oh you mean those principles that say we shouldn’t speak out against nut jobs whose sole purpose in life is to be inflammatory, insulting, and/or throw gasoline on already-burning fires?  Sure, people are free to say what they want, but that freedom doesn’t immunize them against criticism for being ignorant, caustic simpletons.

“Simply put, having an embassy which is -- has been breached and has protesters on its grounds, having violated the sovereignty of the United States, having that embassy reiterate a statement effectively apologizing for the right of free speech is not the right course for an administration.”
No one apologized for the right of free speech, you fucking dunce.  A sharp Embassy press officer saw the potential for civil/militant unrest in a foreign country and acted prudently by releasing a statement that condemned a yet-to-be-seen video insulting the host country’s majority religion.  Quite contrary to what you claim you pathetic fuck, the statement defended freedom of religion.  That’s the First Amendment of our Constitution in case you forgot that, ass wipe.

STATEMENTS

US Embassy, Cairo
The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others.

US Secretary of State
I condemn in the strongest terms the attack on our mission in Benghazi today. As we work to secure our personnel and facilities, we have confirmed that one of our State Department officers was killed. We are heartbroken by this terrible loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and those who have suffered in this attack.

This evening, I called Libyan President Magariaf to coordinate additional support to protect Americans in Libya. President Magariaf expressed his condemnation and condolences and pledged his government’s full cooperation.

Some have sought to justify this vicious behavior as a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet. The United States deplores any intentional effort to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. Our commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation. But let me be clear: There is never any justification for violent acts of this kind.

In light of the events of today, the United States government is working with partner countries around the world to protect our personnel, our missions, and American citizens worldwide.

The President
I strongly condemn the outrageous attack on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi, which took the lives of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens. Right now, the American people have the families of those we lost in our thoughts and prayers. They exemplified America's commitment to freedom, justice, and partnership with nations and people around the globe, and stand in stark contrast to those who callously took their lives.

I have directed my Administration to provide all necessary resources to support the security of our personnel in Libya, and to increase security at our diplomatic posts around the globe. While the United States rejects efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others, we must all unequivocally oppose the kind of senseless violence that took the lives of these public servants.

Note:
One news web site claimed an “administration official” said, "The statement by Embassy Cairo was not cleared by Washington and does not reflect the views of the United States government."  Unfortunately they didn’t say which administration official.  Uncorroborated hearsay means nothing to me.

Liar Liar

"The U.S. military is at risk of losing its 'military superiority' because 'our Navy is smaller than it's been since 1917. Our Air Force is smaller and older than any time since 1947.' " - Mitt Romney, January 16 2012 GOP Presidential Debate.

"The final four years under George W. Bush saw lower levels of active ships than any of the three years under Obama. The number of surface warships also bottomed out in 2005 under Bush, later rising by about 10 percent under Obama." Politifact.com

Pants on Fire

“I’ve been a hunter pretty much all my life.” – Mitt Romney
Must’ve been long hunting trips. The D.I.G. has been hunting only twice in his entire life according to his staff.

”Governor Romney’s support for the Second Amendment doesn’t come from the fact he knows how to handle a firearm; it comes from his appreciation of the Constitution and the rights enshrined in it, including the right to keep and bear arms,” – Romney staffer’s lame attempt at defending Romney’s lie.

To think that there are morons out there who will vote for this guy despite his proven lack of integrity.....

Color Me Ignorant

Mitt Romney, governor of the great state of Massachusetts got his pee-pee stepped on by the press and by minorities when he used the term “tar baby” to refer to Boston’s Big Dig construction project. A Romney spokesman said he used the term to describe a “sticky situation.”

The word does have a history of legitimate, non-derogatory use, however so does “lawn jockey,” and I can’t imagine why someone would use that term.

So, I’m torn. The good Governor’s use of the term was, given its non-derogatory roots, technically correct, but it certainly wasn’t prudent.

Because I’m sure Mr. Romney knew of the term’s derogatory uses, he finds himself here. Not a heavyweight D.I.G. entry, but worthy of an honorable mention.
